I am a huge MMORPG fan, I have been playing games like World of Warcraft and Everquest since I was a little boy, so I decided it would be a fun time to make a short list of some of my favorite MMORPG’s I have played.
A disclaimer is that these games are based on my own opinion and I appreciate other games that people may enjoy. I just find these three games the most fun!
Star Wars: The Old Republic
SWTOR is a game set thousands of years before the prequel movies. In this game there are two factions: the Galactic Republic, a beacon of democracy and the Sith Empire, a militaristic society.
I chose this game as my third favorite MMORPG because the story is amazing. I leveled up an evil Sith who chose all the dark side options (You can make good or bad choices that have an impact on the force within the game) . I found myself very interested in the story and felt like my choices had a great impact on my character.
My main issue with the game and why it’s not number one is because the multiplayer aspect of the game is kind of lacking. I also hate how combat feels. Besides that I had a great time with this game.
Elder Scrolls Online
Elder Scrolls has been a series I always liked. Skyrim was one of my main games as a child and being able to explore all of Tamriel within this amazing MMORPG was fantastic for me.
I enjoy how customizable the characters are in this game making everyone feel truly unique. The transmog system is the easiest to use out of all the games in this list, and you get to customize your colors which is a nice touch. Leveling up is a pleasure with all the voice acting and how immersive each quest truly is.
I do have some issues with the combat and how confusing the skill system is (this is because I am terrible at games, so it’s not really the games fault) Besides that its currently my main MMORPG because I don’t have to pay a subscription, and I have been having fun playing with my family.
World of Warcraft (Duh)
Like I said in the beginning of this post I am very biased in favor of World of Warcraft. I have been playing since I was a kid. I used to sit outside at recess reading some of the WoW lore books my family bought me. I had a bit of a grind set and used to wake up at 3 am to play WoW before school!
I like the style of the game, it is one of the most beautiful games I have played. I like how over the top some of the weapons are and how unique all the different races feel. The factions (Horde and the Alliance) are some of the most diverse and lore rich groups in all of gaming. The combat feels satisfying with a lot of diversity and it’s pretty easy to learn.
I do have some issues with WoW (the subscription and waiting for a world revamp) but it is my favorite game of all time.
